Carp in the cold - Eliška Havelková II.

31-01-2025 - For these few days by the water, I decided to reach for our new product, the Boilie Starter. It is a very affordable bait and lure that works great in both warm and cold water.

RAPID BOILIES

At first glance and kneading it between your fingers, you will notice that it is a fairly soft boilie. If, of course, it is not satisfactory, it can always be dried. But it was good news for me, as a bait in very cold water it seemed satisfactory. Because the products from the Starter range are not as tight as, for example, our highest range Champion Platinum.

They tend to work and forgive even in the winter. A lot of people associate me with the B17 ball, which I will not allow. But I wouldn't use it on this expedition. A boilie this hard has a tendency to completely retract and harden into stone in the winter. I was looking for a lure that would work reliably even in the cold. The fish reacted great, unfortunately it was not a variety that I would have liked after a few shots. I was still on the same level. Most shots came after dark or just before dawn, so I usually didn't take pictures. I kept all the catches and adventurous tackles in my memory in that great cold. I increased my feeding slightly, as the number of shots kept increasing, unfortunately it did not bring me a carp from a higher weight category.

I loaded both rods into the shallower part of the area with underwater irregularities and obstacles where I thought the carp could linger. Since I was getting shots in short time intervals from the same weight category, I decided to introduce the second rod to a different place. I was alone on the whole area during the whole trip. Not even when we were playing Eskimo. However, it opened up new possibilities and unlimited movement on the surface of the water. I took advantage of the situation and took the assembly to another corner of the water. The shot came after about 12 hours with the result of another brother in the party 8 kilos plus. The last idea was to change the bait, which unfortunately I could not do, as I brought a limited amount of one species. As they say, fortune favors the prepared, but it took me by storm. ?

So I prepared a new assembly for the broken rod. In the winter I usually fish a Ronnie rig on any bait. I often come across the opinion that the classic sinking bait on this rig does not work as it should. However, I am of the opinion that even a heavy ball or dummy combination will present itself many times better on this assembly than on the rigid material from the undressing string. The whole trip, I caught the mentioned assembly on this one, which worked for me 100%, not a single fish fell off the hook. I use the same wire size year-round in most cases, that is, if the fish hold well. On this expedition, I caught for three whole days on AS size 4 hooks. My time was slowly running out and I was approaching the end of the expedition. The next expedition was headed for the beginning of February, on which I tested the new flavor of the STARTER series.
